The book' is written for local government housing lawyers/practitioners, lay advisers; and is written so clearly that it will be invaluable to tenants and local government housing officers alike.

There is only one major practical text which is specialist loose-leaf (recently bound) Encyclopaedia (Local Government Precedents and procedure by Sweet & Maxwell.

Indeed the author, P. D. Moore, it was who last updated the housing law chapter in that Encyclopaedia (1998), before it was compiled into a bound volume in 2001.

The advantage this book has over other texts, is it's simplicity. Lay adviser or even housing officer will find it easy to understand. Unlike other books of its kind, it is relatively inexpensive and covers a large amount legal areas relating to local government housing.   Consequently it has a wider target audience.

It has sections on the new Civil Procedure Rules and a chapter reviewing the Incorporation of the ECHR and the case law made under the European Convention of Human Rights. 3. European Union Law & Social Policy

This well-written and practical book does not focus solely on the law, but also considers the wider social implications of social policy on the family, work structures etc. The book provides an excellent overview of EU law.
