The Seventh Day: Revelations from the Lost Pages of History

A five-part television documentary series tracing the remarkable story of those who honored the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath throughout history. Produced for commercial television, it will feature beautiful location footage, classic art, illustrative re-enactments, interviews with experts, and solid biblical and historical documentation.
The Seventh Day is aimed at a general viewing audience.  That is why Hal Holbrook, a well-known actor, is the host and narrator.  His face and voice are familiar to movie and television audiences.  The majority of our guest experts are non-Seventh-day Adventists with expertise in our specific areas of interest.  We believe that this, along with careful research and documentation, will help make our material credible to the viewing public.

Most Sabbatarians know very little about the history of the Sabbath.  Some of what we think we know is a blend of fact and fiction—Sabbath legends that cannot be supported by the historical data.  While The Seventh Day is not primarily for Sabbatarians, it contains much material that illuminates our Sabbath heritage.  We are able to share that information by distributing The Seventh Day in DVD and VHS formats for personal and small group use. Our broader plans for this series is include an airing on the History or Learning Channel as providence opens the way.

You will be shown evidence that the Sabbath was kept by the majority of Christians for hundreds of years after the time of Christ, and that it was never lost. Translated into a variety of languages, it will have a universal appeal showing the people of the world their own heritage, the foundations of many generations, making it a most powerful evangelistic tool.

This powerful theme turns the hearts of the children to their fathers, restoring the old Paths, repairing the breach in God's Law. Now is the time to present the Sabbath more fully before the world, to present the claims of God's Holy Law and to warn of the soon return of Jesus.

"The Sabbath History has been kept from the people too long. They need this precious work, even if they do not have it in all its perfection. It can never be prepared in a manner to fully silence unreasonable opponents, who are unstable, and who wrest the Scriptures unto their own destruction. This is a busy world. Men and women who engage in the business of life have not time to meditate, or even to read the word of God enough to understand all its important truths...The Sabbath History should be given to the people...Our success will be in reaching common minds." Ellen White, Testimonies vol. 3, pp. 38, 39.

The Meaning of the Sabbath
The Seventh day Sabbath was set aside at the end of creation week as a sacred memorial to the creative and redemptive work of God. A sign of the intimate relationship between the Creator and those who worship Him.

"And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shall be called the repairer of the breach. The restorer of paths to dwell in." Isaiah 58:12.
